Active Schools Week took place last week from Monday the 27th of April- the 1st of May in conjunction with The Active Schools Flag- see for more details.

The aim of the week is to encourage the school community to be as active as possible aiming for 60 minutes of physical activity per day.

Throughout the week we ran activities before school, during lunch and afterschool with sports such as dodgeball, badminton, rounders, tennis , Gaelic Football, Kick Fada, Penalty Shoot Out and circuits to name a few.  We also had a Slí na Sláinte mapped out which could be walked or ran daily.  Additionally we invited a number of local sports clubs to visit the school to deliver sports taster sessions which gave our school community an opportunity to experience a variety of different sports such as wrestling, archery, table tennis, boxing and basketball.

The week was a great success with a large cohort of the school community being very active throughout the school week.

Don’t forget to drop in your Active Schools Card to the PE Office to be with a chance of winning most active student, class or year group.

Look out for yourself in our Active Schools Photos displayed in the PE department.
