Transition Year students along with teachers Carmel Gaffney and Mags Amond recently spent a week with our Dutch partner school ‘t Rijks in Bergen Op Zoom, a beautiful town in the south of The Netherlands. Each student stayed with a host family and lived the life of a Dutch student, which included cycling to school. Students and teachers from the Netherlands, Italy and Ireland had good fun touring and learning together. As well as attending class in our partners’ very large and lovely school, we had lots of outdoor activity – a digital scavenger hunts through the town, visits to the Storm Surge Barrier and Aquarium, a day in Amsterdam and an afternoon in Antwerp. From the ‘wake-up’ dance the first morning with teacher Volkan, to the sad farewell Friday morning we all had a week to remember.
