Great news arrived today! Ms Amond (Editor) and Megan Brady (Student Editor) write:
Our school blog has been shortlisted for a Tera Spider Award in the “Best Project” category of the Eircom Junior Spider Awards. The awards, which were established in 2009, recognise and reward students for the successful and innovative ways in which they use the Internet in their daily lives. The 2013 winners will be announced on March 5th in the RDS.
Our school news blog was set up as a project to celebrate our school, inviting students to develop key communication skills as writers, reporters, photographers, designers and presenters. We want to build a 21st Century online archive of school activities to be shared with a wide audience. And it is even fun to do! We are thrilled that this has been recognised by the Junior Spider shortlisters.
Blog posts are written and photographed by students and teachers who email them to the editor, upload them via Google Forms or post via our Edmodo VLE.
Since we took part in some Quadblogging ’round robins’ last year we realise the positive value of feedback – so comments are welcome (but are moderated) – please feel free to add one below!!
Congratulations and thanks to all student and teacher blog post contributors. Best wishes also to the other schools nominated for awards this year.
