From the 5th of November 2012 I attended the TYPE Programme in Trinity College Dublin. It was for 5 days, and I got to not only learn a lot about the many areas of physics but experience college life as well. The five days were mostly made up of one hour long lectures on things such as “Physics in Medicine” and “Higgs, Hadrons and Bosons”. They also consisted of experiments and visits to places like Dunsink Observatory and a tour of CRANN (Centre for Research on Adaptive Nanostructures and Nano devices). We also had to do a mini research project on a specific topic for the first three days. These topics could range from the Hubble telescope to liquid crystals. We also had one big research topic which in our groups had to make an A0 sized research poster. I got to meet other TY students from around the country and learn a lot about the different areas in physics, such as Astro Physics, Theoretical Physics and Experiential Physics. It was a very busy five days but I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my week in Trinity College.
