On the 22nd of October 28 Loreto students hosted 32 Dutch exchange students in their homes. There were many activities organised for this visit.
On Monday we had three activities throughout the day – these included an Irish soda bread baking and pumpkin carving workshops, tai chi and a forensic science workshop. Later on in the day we went into Cavan town for a treasure hunt, which was a fun way to show them our town.
On Tuesday we went to the Marble Arch Caves and then later on we went to the Share Centre for some fun games – combat training, mountain biking, wall climbing, team building games and archery.
On Wednesday we went down to Galway for an “Accelerating Science” exhibition, it was really interesting. After that some students both Irish and Dutch went to a lecture and the remaining students went to the aquarium. After these activites were over we went into Galway and we were allowed to go shopping for the afternoon.
On Thursday we were back in the school for more workshops. These were mask making, GAA football and samba drumming. This was the last day we hosted our Dutch students so we all got together Thursday night.
On Friday morning it was sad because our Dutch friends were leaving to go back to Holland. We are very excited to be seeing them in Holland in April.
Here we are pictured saying Goodbye as they leave on Friday morning:
