On Monday the 23rd of January, five TY students travelled with Ms. Gaffney to Bergen-op-Zoom in the Netherlands. As they arrived at the train station in Bergen-op-Zoom, they met their hosts and were whisked away to their homes for the week. They spent the week living as a student in Bergen-op-Zoom going to school and visiting many different tourist attractions. On Tuesday they got to know the students from other countries including Spain, Norway and Estonia. On the Wednesday they took a day trip to Belgium where they visited a concentration camp and saw the horrors of WW2, after they went into the city of Antwerp where they went shopping. On Thursday they spent the day as a normal Dutch students would going to school with their hosts. On Friday they went to Amsterdam where they went on a trip down the canal and visited the famous Anne Franks’ annexe. Overall the trip was an amazing experience and the five girls truly enjoyed the trip, doing and seeing so many brilliant things in one week. They flew home on Saturday afternoon exhausted with great memories for the rest of their lives!
