This week is dedicated to our foundress Mary Ward, who lived from 1585 to 1645. She is recognised as one of the most original and interesting women of the seventeenth century. She struggled, in spite of fierce opposition, to further the position of women in society through education. In order to do this, Mary Ward founded a new international religious community, the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, of which our school has been a member since we began in 1930.
As part of the celebration of Mary Ward week, our RE classes have been making posters on the theme of Justice for display throughout the school.
